Real Change Comes From Inside
What is Hypnosis?
Hypnotherapy in Chiang MaiHypnosis is a natural state of increased suggestibility. While under hypnosis, one can communicate directly with the subconscious mind and achieve rapid positive life changes. Hypnotherapy makes use of the hypnotic state of consciousness to help people heal past trauma, understand emotional needs and set clear and aligned goals. What Is Hypnotherapy?
Hypnosis is a natural and relaxing state of consciousness in which the subconscious mind is adjustable to positive changes.
The definition of a hypnotic state of consciousness is one in which the mind is focused on one thing to the exclusion of everything else. Everybody enters hypnosis many times a day – for example, while automatically driving a car or watching a movie.
During a hypnosis induction, the subject is trained to focus while language is used to communicate with the subconscious mind to induce a deep state of focused concentration. As the client enters a deep trance, it is usual to experience feelings of well-being and inner centre.
A hypnotic state might be defined as a state of consciousness in which the mind is focused on one thing to the exclusion of everything else.
Everybody enters natural hypnosis many times a day – for example while automatically driving a car or watching a movie and feeling emotion.
When the mind is focused, the critical barrier of conscious thinking is reduced which allows for direct communication with the subconscious mind through words and imagination.
How do I enter hypnosis?
The precursor to enjoying hypnosis is education. The client is taught about what hypnosis is, and questions are answered. It is important to alleviate fears and resolve anxieties before proceeding with therapy.
While there are many ways to enter hypnosis, they all involve learning how to focus the mind while following instructions given by the hypnotherapist.
The language of the subconscious mind is imagination. Language is used to lead the client into a deeply relaxing state of consciousness and set up therapy, usually beginning with going to a safe place in their mind and boosting feelings of confidence and well being with hypnotic suggestion.
Hypnotherapy uses the hypnotic state to help clients achieve therapeutic goals.
Therapy interventions explored under hypnosis can be divided into three core groups:
1. Healing the past
Regression therapy and time line therapy both allow for making unconscious patterns conscious, releasing repressed emotions and restructuring past events.
The therapies often result in powerful shifts in present day emotional patterns.
2. Addressing the present
Inner conflict and addictions are addressed through parts therapy. Self love is explored through inner child work. Confidence boosting, improved eating habits and sleep can be enhanced through suggestive therapeutics.
3. Creating the future
Goals are broken up into clear and definable steps. Relationships are improved through building awareness of inner relationship and the reflection of emotion onto the world around us.
In many cases, a combination of the above stages will step clients into their future outcome, completing a course of successful therapy.
The keys to resolving every life challenge are:
- The willingness to face challenges and explore them as opportunities for growth.
- Healing the emotions that are present.
- Integrating life learnings
It can be helpful to consider the following:
Our emotions may not be caused by the people around us. It can be seen that different people may not react the same way to a similar situation. There is a relationship between thought and emotion. When thought changes, emotion changes or – put another way – emotions are created by the “story” that we tell ourselves about what is happening in the world around us.
Emotion can also be explored as unresolved energy from the past. Every emotion that we feel has been felt before. There is an emotional structure to our life which consists of repeating feelings, situations and events.
If life is a reflection of emotion, then the key to happiness is taking complete responsibility for our feelings and finding the empowerment to heal them from an internal perspective.
Hypnotherapy builds clients awareness through exploring emotions from multiple new perspectives, growing emotional intelligence and providing clients with tools to understand and resolve emotions.
Am I under someone else’s control?
At all times you will be in full control. You will hear everything the hypnotherapist says and retain the choice of whether you would like to carry out suggestions or not.
Most people experience a natural deepening of their state of hypnosis when they choose to follow the instructions of the therapist. Deepening hypnosis feels comforting as the experience of hypnosis itself is pleasurable and deeply relaxing.
No matter how deeply you relax into hypnosis, you will be able to wake yourself up at any time.
How many sessions are needed to achieve change?
The number of therapy sessions required depends upon the individual, their personal situation and the motivation to practice homework which might include training in self hypnosis.
As with any type of therapy, it is useful to work over a series of sessions. An average number of sessions is five.
